Short track

Short Track is a sport that involves athletes running on ice inside a hockey court. The athlete is equipped with a skin-tight racing suit, a helm, gloves and protective wear such as knee, shin and neck guards. The sport became popular in Canada during the first half of the 20th century.

In 1975 the International Skating Union (ISU) created a short track technical committee, which unites nearly 30 national federations.

Short track was included in the Winter Olympic Games program in 1992.
 
A short track department was opened in Astana in 2005. Today training is done by the 2nd Youth Sports School. If you have any questions about enlisting your child into a short track sports section, please contact the 2nd Youth Sports School:
