Astana promotes grassroots sports
The appearance of many sports facilities in the country is enabling not only professional athletes but also amateurs to do sports. Astana hosts Kazakhstan’s Speed Skating Championship
Kazakhstan’s Speed Skating Championship has commenced with a new achievement set in Astana. Roman Krech set a new record at the Alau Ice Palace as he covered a 500-metre track in 35.15 seconds. This was a world-class result, which is among the world’s top six. Kazakhstan’s skaters have this year showed good results, says the national team’s head coach Vadim Sayutin.
World Cup Ice Skating Leg Take place in Alau Stadium
Astana’s ice sports palace «Alau» has turned over a new leaf in it’s so far quite a short story. The ice arena will host competitions of the highest international level following the skaters’ competitions held there earlier this year as part of the Asian Games.

Тhe Kazakhstan capital will first time ever host the stage of World Cup (WC) in speed skating. Competitions will be held from 25 to 27 November at the Ice Palace "Alau".
Top Kazak speed skaters compete for World Cup qualifications
Ninety strongest speed skaters from eight regions of Kazakhstan will be competing for the title of the fastest skater at the competitions made up of a few disciplines. Skaters from Kazakhstan’s men’s national team appeared on the ice of the Alau sports compound. Coaches pin all their hopes on eminent skaters Alexander Zhigin and Dmitry Babenko, Roman Krech, and Denis Kuzin.

The "Astana Arlans" boxing team is based in the city, which in the first World Series Boxing (WSB) Champion ship came second in the team competition, and whose boxer became the first win-ner of the WSB individual championship.

ASTANA. June 29. KAZINFORM "Alau" Ice Stadium was recognized as the best infrastructure at the Mountain Skiing Congress and the Days of Ice Rinks held in Leningrad region, the stadium's press service reports.
